Job Description

Our client, an established surgical specialist practice located along Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill is actively seeking the expertise of an experienced Senior Medical Receptionist/Secretary to join their team.  This is a full time permanent position working 38 hours a week (Monday to Friday).

Joining two long standing senior administrative staff, as a new front of house member you will complement this reception area with your kind nature, welcoming attitude and energetic presence. 

Key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Answering all incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously, managing the delivery of detailed messages in a timely manner
  • Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner
  • Liaise with GPs, other health professionals and their staff
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Prepare and run patient clinics
  • Process patient billing and receipting for clinics
  • Medical typing of basic correspondence as well as more complex medical reports (using an Olympus digital dictation system)
  • Preparing theatre quotation and booking theatre procedures
  • Book and arrange DVA patient transport
  • General administrative support to the team as required

To be considered, you will need:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • At least 2 years experience as a Medical Receptionist/Secretary in a similar practice setting
  • A customer focused, friendly and welcoming manner treating the patients of the practice with the highest degree of respect
  • Immaculate personal presentation
  • An eye for detail, fast and accurate typing skills
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and Genie software
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team environment
