Our client, a well respected and established General Practice has been caring for the families of Brisbane's Inner West area four generations.  The core purpose of this practice has remained the same, to provide comprehensive, attentive and professional medical care to every patient who visits the practice. 

They offer a personal service covering a broad range of areas and have invited specialist Doctors to consult from their rooms based in Auchenflower.

Currently, we have a rare opportunity for an experienced Medical Receptionist on a full time permanent basis (38 hours a week) to join the team.

Key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Taking all incoming telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner
  • Receive and convey messages in writing, verbally and electronically
  • Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner
  • Liaise with GP's, other health professionals and their staff 
  • Co-ordinate all new patient appointments
  • Fax, scan and file patient documents
  • Contribute equitably to maintaining the cleanliness of the practice
  • Handling of all patient payments
  • Place orders for stationery and/or clinical supplies as directed and monitor stationery and clinical supply levels maintaining a working supply at all times
  • General daily administrative support to the Drs, Nurses and Practice Manager to ensure the smooth day to day running of the clinics

As the first point of contact for this practice, the following qualities from a candidate are considered essential:

  • Minimum 2 years previous experience as a Medical Receptionist in General Practice or similar administrative position
  • Previous experience using Best Practice software
  • The ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people, acknowledging and understanding that patients sometimes present in distress/upset/unwell 
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and work positively and productively within a close-knit team environment
  • Availability to work early and late shifts as well as participating in a Saturday morning roster 


An hourly rate between $25 - $29 p/hour + super will be offered to a suitably experienced candidate.  A car park will also be provided.
